Your cartilage may be flexible, however, if it is you continuously put pressure and stress your cartilage, it may get torn. This means that your bones may get rubbed together, resulting in an Osteoarthritis

Contrasting to Osteoarthritis, which occurs due to the constant stress and pressure on your cartilage, Rheumatoid Arthritis is caused by your own immune system. Your own immune system attacks your body parts, in this case, your joints, which results in inflammation.
